NBD07 in Lancashire

Jungle parties and storytimes were held in most of Lancashire’s libraries and proved to be very popular and successful.

Our big event was held at The Mall, a large shopping centre in the centre of Preston. Both children and adults stopped to join in the fun and were treated to stories, rhymes, colouring and face painting. Having been unsuccessful in the draw for the Bookstart Bear and unable to borrow an Elmer costume (to match our library publicity and to continue the jungle theme) we hired a Kipper costume. Kipper delighted not only young children, but also many teenagers who stopped to have their picture taken with him.

Nearly forty people joined the library and we gave out plenty of Bookstart packs, stickers, balloons and teddies, which had been kindly supplied by Childcare Information Service. A brilliant time was had by all (including the library staff!).
